20 Random Facts About Me

Today is my birthday so I thought I’d share a short post about myself! I feel a tiny bit odd about writing down random facts about myself but I really enjoy reading these posts on other blogs so here we are! If any of you guys have a fun fact about yourself I’d love to hear them too!

  1. My birthday is on pi day.
  2. Despite the above implication I prefer cake to pie.
  3. I’m now 23 years old, which is nuts.
  4. I’m Canadian 😊
  5. I have a Harry Potter tattoo on my ribs.
  6. I may have fainted upon completion of this tattoo. I’m a rebel…
  7. Despite my love of reading, I am horrible at spelling. I would be so lost without spellcheck and am still quite bad with it!
  8. I am trying to learn French as I will be moving to Montreal quite soon! But I am really bad with languages so we will see how this turns out. In school I even switched to Latin to avoid French classes.
  9. I have very specific opinions about which sprinkles are best on doughnuts.
  10. I love old type writers.
  11. Halloween is my favourite holiday. I love the smell, the candy the cheesy horror movies.
  12. I have honestly watched Hocus Pocus around 50 times. I have it on in the background most of October.
  13. I am a terrible public speaker. I inevitably begin to shake like a Chihuahua which makes reading cue cards difficult.
  14. I’m a master procrastinator.
  15. I am terrible at remembering people’s names, but I am great at recalling the names of other people’s pets.
  16. My favourite flowers are forget me nots.
  17. My undergrad degree is in psychology.
  18. I am so very excited to start my Master’s degree in Information and Library Studies in Septermber.
  19. I love playing with polymer clay, I’ve even made a tiny model inspired by Snape’s potions lab.
  20. My favourite animals are fennec foxes and hippos.

So that’s it! I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, and maybe learned that we share a few things in common! Have a great pi day!

  1. Happy birthday! Most days I don’t feel much older than 23 (but I really am).

If someone had told me that was an option when I was younger, I would have gotten my MLS. Sure, it’s never too late to start a new thing, but I’ve got kids and a family, and my time for tackling a new degree (that I’m not sure I’d be able to put to use where we currently live) is limited.

Hippos! The pygmy hippos are my favorite at our local zoo, and I’ve been known to sing “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” loudly and at random times. (But not at work. They would frown on that.)

What a fun idea for a post! I may have to borrow it.

  2. Good luck with the French – though the best way to learn it, is to immerse yourself in it. The best thing, though, is that the people in Montreal can speak English. 🙂
    Happy birthday.

  3. Happy Birthdaaay!!❤ I truly hope you are having an amazing daaay😁 Those are some really cool facts! I am also horrible as a public speaker and the HP tattooo I think it’s so cool that you have one 😮 !

  4. Happy birthday, Pisces Piglet! Next year is sure to be an even more special birthday (at least, we can be optimistic).

And, hopefully your cat treats you kindly today.

Uh, what sort of HP tattoo? Are we talking some tiny little “snitch” or a giant face of Harry or Ron on your ribs?

Skip the French lessons. It doesn’t sound like your heart is in it. Yet, perhaps, it’s a challenge you need to get out of some box you now occupy.

I love Halloween for costume parties, pumpkin carving, pumpkin seeds, harvest festivals, sure, the candy…but not the scary movies. No monsters or evil spirits at my party.

I struggle with people’s names but can remember most of my past coworkers’ birth signs. Well, even that has faded over time.

Ha! Talk about “coincidences.” Your favorite flowers are forget-me-nots but your memory tends to be lousy. I wrote a bit about a gal like you in one of my books not long ago.

I favor red/snow foxes, barn owls, pugs, Samoyeds, tigers, frogs/toads and horses, especially Lipizzaner horses.

    Fun facts. 😀

    1. Thank you so much!

So far Winnie has been surprisingly good!

The thought of Ron on my ribs would be hilarious. It’s just some script and a Dumbledore quote 🙂

I don’t hate learning French I honestly just had some questionable French teachers in grade school so I have a bit of anxiety around the subject. I’d just love to be able to have at least a conversation in Montreal in someones preferred language.

I adore pumpkin seeds, with some olive oil and season salt, they’re addictive 🙂

That is a funny coincidence, I just think they’re a lovely flower.

Oh, I adore snow foxes as well!

      1. Nice name for the cat.

Script AND a quote or a quote in Potter script? And, is this like an Angelina Jolie tattoo that would show with a backless dress or swimsuit or something you need a magnifying lens to read?

Sometimes that anxiety could be the cosmos telling you no. But, I cannot be sure. Only you really will know when you know.

Yea, I keep saying the same thing about Spanish, but I haven’t mastered it on my own, yet. I think immersive learning may be better. We both would benefit from living with people who speak the language and can teach us as we meet and do things together.

I thought that’s all I’d need to enjoy the seeds. But, they got a lil dull, last time. I think they need something more. Fresh out of the oven and freshly seasoned, yea, they were going fast. But, day 12 in a Ziplock bag, they had lost their appeal.

  5. Oh no, I’m late, but happy belated birthday! Does your birthday being on Pi Day ever mean you get pies instead of cake? Because that … well, that would just be a travesty. xD Good luck learning French! I took it in high school and college, and I love it so much. It’s such a beautiful language. Oh, and fennec foxes are so cuuuute!

      1. Oh, thank goodness. No one deserves no cake on their birthday. I have to make a special gluten free cake, but darn it, I still have cake. 😛

What really helped me when I was learning, if you can do it, was immersing myself more in the culture, which meant I read a ton of French books (I started with kids books haha) and I listened to a bunch of French music (with lyrics) and watched French movies. I picked up a bunch of vocabulary that way and got more used to listening to the different accents and people talking quickly.

  6. Thanks for stopping by my blog recently and liking a books post. Nice to have the intro to your fun and engaging blog. I look forward to giving some of your recommendations a try. As a fellow Potter fan, I’d love to see that mini Snape potions lab.

Happy birthday and best wishes for your upcoming master’s program!
